From the Principal.

Welcome to the Edmund Rice College website. I am privileged to lead a diverse community in a unique setting. Our College motto ‘Stronger Together’ reminds us that we cannot do our work in isolation. The partnership between families and the College is integral to the work we do. I hope you enjoy learning a little about our story from our website.

The College is located on 3300 hectares of picturesque farming land in the Chittering Valley just over one hour’s drive from Perth. The College has been at the forefront of agricultural training in Western Australia for many years. State of the art trade training facilities enhance the College’s course offerings and opportunities for practical learning.

Our College is a co-educational Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. We offer secondary education for boarding and day students from Years 7 to 12 from across the State. Our focus is the safety and wellbeing of our young people. Child safeguarding is our core responsibility which is embedded in our learning and boarding programs at the College. The learning programs are complemented by effective pastoral support programs to ensure all students can live and study effectively within the College community.

We are committed to ensuring that our policies and procedures make Edmund Rice College a safe and inclusive place for all of our community. Student voice is important to us. We want to enable students to see themselves as active participants in their learning journey. Collaboration between students and staff is encouraged at all times.

As a leading Vocational Education College, we specialise in providing opportunities for our students to engage with Agriculture, Equine and Trades, including automotive and engineering. Our environment provides students
with a unique learning experience which fully integrates theory, practice and technology. We seek to inspire the comprehensive development of each student in a healthy, rural environment. Our students are challenged to develop individual initiative and responsibility.

Each year, our graduating Senior students have completed accredited and recognised Certificate courses ready to embark on their careers or further studies. They are well prepared to contribute positively to their communities. Agriculture and trade provide major employment opportunities in Western Australia. Equipped with practical work skills when they graduate, our students are well-prepared for employment or further learning in a wide range of industries. They have sound personal values and qualities to enable them to make valuable contributions and find success wherever they go.

I invite you to contact the College to discuss the opportunities and benefits an Edmund Rice College education can provide for your son or daughter.

Mrs Amy Mosquito - Principal

History of Edmund Rice College

The College celebrates a heritage, which originated in its foundation by the Christian Brothers in 1938 and now is governed by Edmund Rice Education Australia. The land for the College was donated to the Brothers in 1936 by Mrs Catherine Musk to be used as a farm school. The construction of the buildings took place over many years. In more recent times there have been renovations to several of the heritage buildings and establishment of new learning areas for the students.

Our Vision

Edmund Rice College is faithful to the gospel of Jesus and the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice. Together we seek to inspire each person to be optimistic, hope-filled and resilient in a dynamic rural environment, so they become proactive young people who will transform their communities.

Mission statement

Edmund Rice College is an educational, agricultural and vocational community, strong in faith, compassion and empathy. The College strives to be part of the local community, building quality relationships and partnerships, sharing a common direction and working together to achieve our goals.
To enable students to raise their voices and become responsible contributors to their communities, the college aims to nurture their faith and spiritualities throughout their learning journeys, supporting them in their development of knowledge, skills, understanding and wellbeing.

Edmund Rice College is committed to engaging students in safe, innovative and practical experiences which motivate and inspire them to personal excellence.
