Edmund Rice College proudly hosts the Bindoon Brigade of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Cadets (DFES) which offers students as well as members of the wider community the opportunity to train and experience an array of prevention, harm minimization, and response procedures when dealing with an emergency.
The College’s vast grounds provide immediate access to real-life opportunities for cadets to put their training into practice. This rewarding, yet fun-filled course which cadets undertake as part of the DFES program is comprised of two units, and equips each cadet with invaluable skills for future volunteer and leadership roles.
Being a member of the DFES Cadets is extremely popular with many of our students. Our students thrive on the responsibilities, leadership roles, and the opportunity that they are given. Cadets are given the opportunity to attend multiple camps throughout the year to locations such as, Margaret River, Kalbarri, Dwellingup, and Mundaring. In preparation for these camps, students are given the challenge of planning and taking ownership of many of the elements and activities which are to be carried out.
